PLEASE NOTE CHANGE IN READERS: Denise Low and Thomas Weso are not able to join us for the reading. Instead, Heid Erdrich and Prudence Johnson will present some of Denise's and Tom's work.The Birchbark Books Reading Series is pleased to present Margaret Hasse and Denise Lajimodiere. Curated by Michael Kiesow Moore and Ardie Medina, the reading series features new, emerging, and established writers quarterly September through May. Independent Bookstore Day

Birchbark Books and ARTrageous Adventures
Please join us for a full day of author appearances, poetry, music, dancing, refreshments, door prizes, special activities for kids at ARTrageous Adventures and plenty of fun for the whole family! The day's events include dancing by Ramsey's Braggarts Morris Men, live music poetry by TiWakan, a demonstration of the rare art of birchbark biting by Robyn Foster, authors Heid E. Erdrich, Beth Dooley and Kao Kalia Yang, custom printings from Monica Edwards Larson's bicycle-mounted printing press, and perhaps some special pop-up appearances from local luminaries. The highly personal yet often universal stories in Riding Shotgun: Women Write About Their Mothers offer windows into those influential mother-daughter moments that have forever shaped the lives and perspectives of the writers; true tales of startling candor and rich insight revealing hard work and hardship, successes and failures, love and anger—mothers and daughters. Readers will include Susan Power, Sheila O’Connor, and Wang Ping. Hosted by editor Kathryn Kysar. Refreshments will be served and a good time will be had by all!
